Grounds Person – Sole Charge

Hours: 40 per week

Schedule: Monday to Friday daytime (with some occasional weekend work) 

Contract: Full time, permanent

Location: Ealing Lawn Tennis Club, Ealing, London W5

The Club.

Ealing Lawn Tennis Club is one of London’s leading tennis clubs with excellent playing facilities The Club has 6 grass courts, 3 indoor acrylic courts, 3 floodlit artificial clay courts, 3 floodlit tarmac courts, 2 mini tennis courts and a tennis hitting wall. Within the grounds is a modern clubhouse and car park. We are a community members club; we are passionate about our sport and provide a friendly place to work at.  The role is a great opportunity for someone who wishes to widen their grounds management experience. 

The Role

Typical duties will include:

1. Responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of grass tennis courts, artificial clay tennis courts, indoor courts and grounds of the Club
2. Operating lawnmowers and other machinery.
3. Ensure all equipment is correctly maintained and serviced.
4. Allocate work where there is part time, temporary or contract labour to control, and ensure completion of tasks.
5. Deal with sub-contractors that support the maintenance of facilities 
6. Follow Health and Safety regulations 

Our Ideal Candidate

Previous grounds or turf experience is advantageous. We may also consider any applications for part-time work where this experience is present. Advantageous qualifications – NVQ 2 in Greenkeeping / Sports Turf Management and PA1 and PA6 Spraying qualifications. Candidates will have a hands-on approach, the ability to work under pressure, have excellent attention to detail and will be friendly, polite and diplomatic.

Although reporting to the Club Manager, the role requires a high degree of self-sufficiency with respect to technical aspects of the role.
