North London Open Spaces Division comprises Queens Park, Highgate Wood, West Ham Park and Hampstead Heath inclusive of Golders Hill Park, all of which have achieved Green Flag &amp; Heritage status, a sign of excellence in providing a high quality public open space.The City of London’s North London Open Spaces Department are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable person to join a dedicated team dealing with the protection, promotion and management of the Heath. The duties involve carrying out a range of estate management operations, assisting with events and providing, high quality customer care and uniformed patrols.The successful candidate will assist the Senior Ranger to maintain, protect and conserve Golders Hill Park and Hampstead Heath Extension to high standards, assist with the sites’ management plan and be the on-site contact in the absence of more senior members of staff.&nbsp; Undertake inspection records and contribute to the site management plan and work programme, supervising the work of contractors and volunteers. Provide a visible and professional service that engages effectively with the public across Golders Hill Park, supporting North London Open Spaces and Natural Environment’s aspirations to be widely recognised for its high quality and inclusive services.The role includes team leading responsibilities for the team as you undertake and deliver your duties alongside members of the team in a highly professional manner. Supporting events and entertainment across the department. Leading on annual sports maintenance renovations and implementation of sports pitches on an annual basis as well as tractor-based grass-cutting. Will ideally have a significant relevant experience working in open spaces maintenance including front line customer care and certification in the safe operation of relevant machinery such as tractor driving, strimmers, ride-on mowers and a range of other machinery and hand tools.A full driving licence, good written and verbal communication skills, competency in a wide range of practical skills both for the open spaces and in the office working with a range of Microsoft software such as Word and Excel and a commitment to Continuous Professional Development are compulsory.Closing date: 15 December 2025.

Ranger (Golders Hill Park)

The Seasonal Gardener and Groundstaff roles support the delivery of the Championships as required across all venues to include The All England Lawn Tennis &amp; Croquet Club Limited (Wimbledon), The All England Club Community Sports Ground (Raynes Park), The Wimbledon Qualifying and Community Sports Centre (Roehampton), Wimbledon Queue, Hospitality and surrounding areas.What you will be doingGeneral Responsibilities<ul><li>Maintaining health, safety and security in the workplace and complying with company procedures and guidelines.</li><li>Driving buggies and other required machinery according to site rules.</li><li>Taking personal responsibility to be in clean and presentable AELTC uniform during working hours.</li><li>On a day-to-day basis offering flexibility to work across the Horticultural Services Department and Groundstaff Department as required across all venues.</li><li>Any other duties within the department deemed necessary by the Lead Gardener / Lead Groundsperson&nbsp;</li></ul>Seasonal Gardener<ul><li>Planting and plant management to include feeding, watering, weeding, clearing, pruning, strimming, blowing and hedge cutting across all venues.</li><li>Maintaining health, safety and security in the workplace and complying with company procedures and guidelines, including manual handling procedures.</li><li>Operating machinery and equipment and assisting in the care and daily maintenance of all equipment and tools according to the site rules.</li><li>Keeping the grounds tidy and weed free.&nbsp;</li></ul>Seasonal Groundsperson<ul><li>Assisting in the care and daily maintenance of grass courts to include applying nutrition (granular and liquid), mowing, marking out, operating pedestrian and tractor mounted machinery, Spring and Autumn grass court renovations across all venues.</li><li>Identifying and controlling of weeds, pests, diseases and disorders.&nbsp;</li><li>Assisting in the care and daily maintenance of clay courts, hard courts, covered courts, croquet lawns, ornamental, other grass areas and car parks across all venues.</li><li>Ensuring grounds, paths and areas surrounding courts are tidy and weed free.&nbsp;</li><li>Assisting in the care and maintenance of all equipment, tools and benches.&nbsp;</li><li>Setting up courts for play to include – erecting permanent and temporary netting, operating grass court covers, maintaining cups and water on courts, maintaining and moving benches.</li></ul><h3>About you</h3><ul><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills to ensure effective communication and collaboration with ability to build good working relationships within the team and other departments and venues.&nbsp;</li><li>Organised, efficient, professional and reliable with a pro-active, solution-focused approach to meet deadlines.</li><li>Current full driving licence (Category B).&nbsp;&nbsp;It is a condition of employment the successful applicant holds, and continues to hold, a current full driving licence and be able to demonstrate the ability to safely operate vehicles including, for example, tractors, ride on machinery, buggies and company vehicles (list not exhaustive) to the required standard and in accordance with our site rules.</li><li>Motivated with strong levels of autonomy and ability to work within agreed guidelines with excellent attention to detail.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build good working relationships at all levels across all venues.</li></ul>Seasonal Gardener&nbsp;<ul><li>RHS Level 2 Horticultural qualification or equivalent.</li><li>PA1 and PA6 qualification or equivalent desirable.&nbsp;</li><li>Experience of operating machinery ie forklift/MEWP e.g. Genie or Scissorlift qualification or equivalent desirable.&nbsp;</li><li>Horticultural knowledge and practical experience gained in a professional environment.&nbsp;</li><li>Flexibility to include weekends, evenings and a different pattern of hours to cover events across all venues.&nbsp;</li></ul>Seasonal Groundsperson<ul><li>Strong turf knowledge and qualifications to include level 2, or equivalent, in sports turf and PA1 and PA6A.</li><li>Proven knowledge and practical experience gained in a professional environment with grass tennis courts and other tennis court surfaces to competition standard.</li><li>Recognise all events and matches are important to the image and the operation of the AELTC.</li><li>To support the delivery of all events across all venues there is a&nbsp;requirement to work in accordance with a different rota and shift pattern to cover the additional requirements of the role including extended hours, days,&nbsp;weekends and evenings.</li></ul><h3>What part your role will play in The Championships&nbsp;</h3>During The Championships period your role will help to support the AELTC’s goal of delivering the world’s premier tennis tournament and to support one of the world’s most prestigious tennis clubs.Seasonal Gardener<ul><li>The Horticultural Services Department designs and delivers the landscaping in accordance with the Strategic Plan to encompass multiple venues.
