City of Peterborough Sports Club (CoPSC) is the largest multi sports club in the area and is home to five of the most premier sports clubs in the city, offering Bowls, Cricket (Peterborough Town Cricket Club), Hockey, Squash / Racquetball and Tennis with over 1000 members. We offer some of the finest facilities (for ECB Northants Premier cricket, County Bowls, and National League Hockey) in the East of England and host a number of top sporting competitions and matches including minor counties and 2nd XI county cricket. We are a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC).We are currently looking for an experienced Groundsperson to be accountable and responsible for a cricket square, cricket outfield, bowls green, grass tennis courts and a sand dressed astroturf hockey pitch within our site and to ensure they meet all standards required by the club and each sport’s governing body.Other responsibilities include:<ul><li>Ensure the safe and effective operation of all groundskeeping equipment, including lawnmowers, tractors, and other machinery. </li><li>Implement and maintain a comprehensive grounds maintenance plan, including fertilization, pest control, end-of-season renovation and irrigation strategies. </li><li>Monitor and address any issues with sports facilities promptly and safely. </li><li>Prepare the annual budget requests for repairs, maintenance and grounds preparation.</li><li>Coordinate the negotiation, purchase, storage and control of all consumable materials and services in a cost-effective manner.</li><li>Ensure all groundskeeping activities are carried out in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all relevant safety regulations and procedures. </li><li>Carry out repairs and renovations to sports facilities as needed during winter periods. </li><li>Maintain a thorough knowledge of and ensure compliance with all relevant National and Local current legislation, ie. THE ROLEWe are seeking a full-time, full-year permanent Senior Grounds Person to join our Grounds team working on our £60 million modern campus set in 80 acres in Prestbury, Cheshire.The role involves working as part of a dedicated and experienced grounds team and assisting the Head Groundsman in the maintenance and development of amenities, general grounds and playing surfaces in this large school campus site. The successful candidate will also assist in ensuring safe and consistent quality of playing surfaces of our many sports pitches and facilities.Job tasks include:• Assistance with preparation and maintenance of sports pitches, and amenity surfaces, including artificial surfaces for the end user including pitch marking and set-up of a variety of sports;• Use of various tractor and mowing equipment;• Use of a variety of hand tools, such as strimmers, hedge cutters, backpack blowers and chainsaws (license would be preferred but not essential);• Assistance in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of weekly and annual maintenance programmes to ensure the required standard of surface presentation, across the whole campus;• Collaborate and source cost-effective third-party suppliers to organise repair works/projects;• Ensure all equipment is correctly maintained and serviced;• Maintain sports and grounds related facilities and buildings;• Collaborate with other staff to develop outdoor areas, i.e. outdoor classrooms;• Deputise for the Head Grounds Person as and when necessary.Other duties may be assigned from time to time by the members of the Senior Management Team.
