Due to the continuing growth of our busy Grounds and Gardens department, we are looking to recruit a Groundsperson. The department is responsible for the maintenance of 76 acres split between the Upper School, Prep School, Pelican School, Porson Road sports field, and the Perse Playing Fields at Abington. Using the department vehicles, the team works flexibly across all sites. The role will involve maintaining the day to day upkeep of the hard and soft areas of the grounds, ensuring that the sports pitches are safe and fit for use and that all areas appear well maintained at all times, across all sites. The stadium is home to Sale Sharks from rugby union’s top flight and Salford Red Devils rugby league. It has recently acted as host venue for Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. Chigwell School is looking for a flexible and proactive person with experience in grounds maintenance, presentation and performance to join our Grounds team. The ideal candidate will preferably have experience in preparing cricket/football pitchesWe are looking for candidates to have a specialism in grounds, but the successful candidate will be expected to undertake work in the school gardens and will be collectively responsible for ensuring that the School grounds, sports pitches, lawns, gardens and the general outdoor estate is well maintained and kept to a high standard at all times.This role is a full time, all year- round position.
