Grounds Team Leader

Are you an experienced grounds person with a passion for creating top-class playing surfaces? Do you want to play a key role in maintaining the facilities at Milton Keynes Dons FC and be part of an exciting, high-performance environment? We’re looking for a Grounds Team Leader to join our team and lead the grounds team in the day-to-day management of our pitches.

Your Role & Responsibilities

As Grounds Team Leader, you will report directly to the Head of Grounds and Estates and be responsible for pitch presentation, maintenance, and day to day management of grounds staff. Your initial remit will include:

• Pitch & Facility Maintenance: Lead the quality and maintenance of all training surfaces and matchday pitches, ensuring they meet regulatory, operational and performance requirements.

• Team Leadership: Leading the grounds team in daily operations, ensuring high standards of work and pitch quality

• Staff Development: Educating less experienced staff members to reasoning and methodology of correct grounds maintenance.

• Communication- Communicate in a professional manner with Coaching staff and Head of grounds regarding pitch performance and to ensure maintenance needs are met.

About you:

• You are a solution-driven professional who:

• Has multiple years’ experience in sports grounds maintenance

• Experience supervising or leading a team.

• Strong knowledge of sports turf and, grounds maintenance techniques

• Competent in using grounds machinery (e.g., pedestrian mowers, tractors, aerators).

• A positive leader with good communication and organisational skills.

• Relevant qualifications (Sports turf maintenance level 2, PA1/PA6, tractor training) are desirable but not essential.

• Is skilled in leading teams and motivating staff to meet high standards.

• Has a knowledge of health and safety regulations, safe operating systems, and best practices within grounds management.
