The Role
The Senior Groundsperson plays a key role in maintaining the pitches and tennis courts that The Lensbury is renowned for; nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities
• In conjunction with the Grounds & Gardens Manager, take responsibility for the maintenance, specific procedures and upkeep of The Lensbury fine turf areas,including rugby pitches and tennis courts.
• Mowing, slitting, rolling, watering, scarifying, application of fertilisers and insecticides, feeding, overseeding and re-turfing and levelling work where necessary.
• Ensure the safe keeping of all fertilisers, seed, sand, dressing, top soil insecticides and all regulations as to their application and usage.
• Make all necessary preparations for all matches and/or tournaments, and ensure specific requirements are covered.
• Assist in the renovations of pitches to maintain a high standard of playing surfaces at all times.
• Assist with the maintenance of all other external sports and recreation facilities to help ensure required standards are met.
• Deputise for the Grounds & Gardens Manager as and when necessary.
• Assistance in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of weekly and annual maintenance programmes to ensure the required standard of surface presentation
• Assist in promoting the safety and correct storage of all machinery and equipment, and assist with relevant training and enforcing of correct procedures for their use.
What we’re looking for:
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications, attitude, behaviours, skills, and values:
• Previous experience in a sports turf/grounds maintenance role in the education, hospitality, leisure sector or similar.
• PA1, PA2 and PA6 licences beneficial / essential
• Strong professional and/or academic qualifications in turf maintenance and sports ground management or horticulture, e.g. NVQ Level 2 in Amenity and Horticulture;
• A flexible approach to the variety of jobs involved
• Ability to work well within a team and individually including unsupervised
• Good understanding of machinery and maintenance preferred, however training will be provided.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and risk management;
• Commitment to continuing professional development.
