The City of Salford Community Stadium Limited (CosCos) owns and operates the 12,000 capacity Salford Community Stadium (currently named the CorpAcq Stadium). The stadium is home to Sale Sharks from rugby union’s top flight and Salford Red Devils rugby league. It has recently acted as host venue for Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025. COSCOS Ltd is owned by Salford City Council.

As well as the main stadium, the company owns the land around the stadium including two training pitches.

Job title: Skilled Groundsman

Grade: Grade AO (inclusive up to 37.5 hours per week) £ competitive

Holidays 33 per year inclusive of Bank Holidays

Location of work: Salford Community Stadium

Directly responsible to: Stadium Grounds Manager

Directly responsible for: Delivering Groundsman duties as directed by the Stadium Grounds Manager and Deputy Stadium Grounds Manager

Hours of duty: Hours 37.5 per week; flexible over 7 days. Actual hours of duty will be determined by business needs as agreed with the Stadium Manager. This role will include regular evening and weekend work as attendance on Match Days is essential.

Primary purpose of the job: The Skilled Groundsman will play a key role in maintaining, preparing, and presenting the natural turf and surrounding external areas at Salford Community Stadium to the highest professional standards. The stadium hosts elite-level rugby league and rugby union fixtures, alongside training sessions, events, and community use. The role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to turf management, health and safety, and presentation.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

• Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Sports Turf Management (or equivalent).

• PA1/PA2 or equivalent pesticide application certification.

• Experience working on rugby league or rugby union pitches.

• Knowledge of irrigation systems and basic turf nutrition programmes.

• Full UK driving licence.
