Our operations encompass a thriving rugby club (Richmond Rugby) and an increasingly busy venue business (The Richmond Athletic Ground).

For over 135 years, Richmond Rugby have been based at Richmond Athletic Ground. Our 26- acre venue with seven natural turf pitches hosts a diverse array of events, from major 7s and other sporting festivals to corporate events, international rugby hospitality and a big annual fireworks display. We pride ourselves on delivering top-quality facilities for players and visitors alike.

Role Overview:

Richmond Athletic Ground is looking for a skilled and dedicated Groundsperson to join our grounds team.

As a Groundsperson at Richmond, you’ll play a key role in maintaining our pitches and estate, ensuring that players and visitors have excellent facilities. The role requires experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and prepare natural turf pitches for rugby and other sporting events.
  • Ensure the estate and surrounding areas are well-kept and safe.
  • Apply agronomy and turf management practices, including winter pitch maintenance.
  • Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Work flexibly with the team to cover seasonal and event demands.

Skills and Experience:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Management (minimum).
  • Experience in winter pitch maintenance.
  • Spraying certification (desirable).
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and proactive approach.
