Assistant Grounds Manager

Starting Salary £40,000 per annum (depending on skills, knowledge and experience)&nbsp;Permanent | Full-time | All-year Round (52 weeks per year)&nbsp;Felsted School, a leading Independent Day and Boarding School, is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and passionate Head of Grounds to lead our Grounds and Gardens Department. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and developing our beautiful 90-acre campus in rural North Essex, ensuring that our high-quality sports facilities, green spaces, and gardens are always presented and maintained to the highest standards.&nbsp;The main responsibilities of the role will be to manage, support and develop our team of Grounds and Gardens staff to maintain and enhance all outdoor areas including lawns, sports pitches, gardens and pathways whilst upholding high standards in health &amp; safety, environmental practices, and compliance.&nbsp;Our ideal candidate will hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Groundskeeping or similar area, have proven experience in a similar role in groundskeeping (ideally in an educational environment), and possess strong interpersonal and team management skills. It is also essential that all candidates hold a full UK manual driving licence.&nbsp;This role is a permanent position working full-time, all-year round. The hours of work are Monday to Thursday from 8:00am to 4:30pm and Fridays from 8:00am to 3:30pm, with a thirty-minute unpaid lunch break each day. Head of Grounds

Purpose of Role:&nbsp;The Skilled Grounds person will be required to directly manage pitch number 1 for the SRU National Team &amp; SFA Contract. They should ensure all pitch requirements are planned and documented to communicate with the SRU &amp; SFA Staff and ensure the Grounds Manager is kept fully updated on all pitch work required. This is a priority to ensure the preparation and delivery of the pitches and surrounds meets the agreed Contract KPI’s and SLA each year for SRU &amp; SFA.Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>The Skilled Grounds person will be on site when the partner users require the pitch to ensure the expectations of the partner are met for each training session. </li><li>The Skilled Grounds person will deliver the pitch preparation daily, weekly, monthly to the agreed KPI levels for the hybrid grass used by the SRU National Team &amp; SFA Team Players &amp; Coaches.</li><li>The Skilled Grounds person will ensure all pitch equipment used is cleaned and repaired each day to ensure the equipment is fit for purpose and available to be used to maintain the pitches daily.</li><li>The Skilled Grounds person will communicate daily on the pitch surface and playability to the SRU &amp; SFA Coaches and document all KPI information for reference.</li></ul>Education, Qualifications &amp; Experience:&nbsp;These are the criteria on which the short-listing and recruitment selection will be based.Essential<ol><li>Educated to SCQF Level 6 (Highers) or similar or equivalent experience</li><li>Experience or relevant qualifications in the grounds / pitch care industry</li><li>Experience of working and communicating in a football or rugby environment </li><li>Good numeracy and IT skills.
